What this page helps you do

Make a photo crop at a chosen aspect ratio and output size for a form or print layout. Locked crop proportions help you avoid stretching a face when changing a rectangular image to a square or portrait format.

How to use the result

Select a size that matches the destination's instructions, position the crop around the subject, and review the preview before downloading. A familiar preset name is a starting point, not confirmation of a particular application route.

Before you rely on it

  • Check head placement, visible shoulders and the space above the head against the destination's examples.
  • Verify the download's dimensions and file size, and print at the required physical size if needed.

Limit to keep in mind: This is a cropping tool, not a biometric assessment. Some authorities restrict digital edits or require a photographer or live photo capture.

Match the size to the application route

Passport and visa photos do not share one global size. Presets such as 2 × 2 inches and 35 × 45 mm are conveniences for choosing a shape; confirm what applies to the specific document and route.

Digital instructions may state pixels directly. A physical print size also depends on print density, so keep those measurements distinct when checking a finished file.

Crop first when the proportions need to change

A crop selects the part of the picture that remains. Resizing changes the dimensions of the selected picture. Use the photo maker for framing rather than stretching a face to force a different shape.

Keep required headroom and the relevant features within the permitted frame. A dimension measurement cannot establish that pose, lighting, expression or other visual conditions are acceptable.

Keep the source and respect editing restrictions

Some routes require an unaltered original or restrict digital edits. Read those conditions before cropping, changing a backdrop or compressing the source.

After saving, inspect the actual pixels and any separate KB limit. Use a checker for mechanical rules and review the official visual instructions yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Which sizes are available?
The maker includes common presets and custom physical dimensions, including 2 × 2 inches and 35 × 45 mm. Use a setting that matches the instructions for your application.
How is this different from a resizer?
This maker provides an aspect-locked crop for framing. A resizer scales the whole picture. Crop first when the selected proportions need to change.
Can I enter a custom centimetre size?
Yes. Enter the required physical dimensions and use the relevant print density. Check the resulting pixels when preparing a digital upload.
Will an authority approve the result?
The tool prepares framing and dimensions. It does not determine acceptance or check every capture, appearance and application-specific requirement.
Where is the crop processed?
The crop and export workflow runs in your browser. Keep the original separately and inspect the saved copy before submitting it.
