Image conversion

Make a JPG copy of a WebP image

Use an actual JPEG conversion when the receiving app or form requires JPG. Check the new copy before sharing and keep the original image. Your files never leave your device.

WebP — up to 100 megapixels and 20,000px on a side

Tip: Ctrl+V / ⌘V to paste

Camera metadata is not carried over: EXIF and XMP — capture date, camera model and any GPS tag — are left behind when the picture is redrawn as JPG. The pixels are all that moves across.

What this page helps you do

Turn a WebP photo into a JPEG for a form or application that lists JPG as an accepted format. This addresses format compatibility while keeping file-size and dimension requirements as separate checks.

How to use the result

Convert one file or a batch, then use the JPEG copy for the destination. The converter fills transparent areas with white because JPEG does not store transparency.

Before you rely on it

  • Inspect the image's edges and colours, especially if the WebP contains text or a logo.
  • Check the downloaded file's dimensions and size; use the photo checker if the form also imposes those limits.

Limit to keep in mind: JPEG adds lossy compression and removes transparency. Choose PNG for a cutout or graphic that needs transparent areas, and keep the original WebP for future edits.

Convert the contents instead of renaming the file

A destination that accepts only JPG or PNG can reject WebP even when its filename ends in .jpg. An actual conversion creates image data in the required format.

Accepted format is only one rule. After conversion, confirm any maximum or minimum file size and the required dimensions.

Inspect detail and transparent areas

JPEG uses lossy encoding, so the new copy can change fine edges and small text. Compare it with the original at the size where the image will be viewed.

JPEG cannot store transparency. This workflow fills transparent source pixels white. Use WebP to PNG when a transparent background must remain available for another design.

Review the complete batch

Multiple sources can be processed in sequence and successful copies saved as a ZIP. Check errors so a failed file is not overlooked.

Each source still has to decode, and available memory affects large jobs. Keep the originals until you have confirmed that every needed copy was created.

Frequently asked questions

Will conversion fix every upload rejection?
It can address the format rule when JPEG is accepted. It does not establish that size, dimensions or visual conditions also meet the destination’s rules.
What happens to a transparent background?
The transparent pixels are composited onto white because JPEG has no alpha channel. Choose PNG when transparency needs to remain.
Can image detail change?
Yes. JPEG is lossy. Check writing, logos, fine lines and sharp edges in the exported copy.
Can I process several files?
Yes. Convert the selection, review individual errors and check the successful files before using the ZIP.
Are the images uploaded?
No. The WebP is decoded and the JPEG is created inside the browser. The application’s own assets still load normally.
