What this page helps you do

Export PDF pages as JPEG images for an app that requires pictures, a document preview or a downstream OCR workflow. Page selection and DPI controls let you choose the content and pixel resolution for the intended use.

How to use the result

Select the pages, choose a resolution and JPEG quality, and export. Review the actual output dimensions and any notice that the requested DPI was reduced for a large page.

Before you rely on it

  • Inspect small text and line art at the size at which the images will be used.
  • Check that all selected pages were exported and that the total image size suits the destination.

Limit to keep in mind: JPEG is lossy and uses an opaque background. The images do not retain selectable PDF text, and raising DPI cannot recover detail missing from a low-resolution scan.

Convert a document page into a usable picture

A certificate, signature page or scanned document may need to be supplied as an image when a destination rejects PDFs. Select only the relevant pages and confirm the destination's accepted format, pixel dimensions and file-size limit.

The rendered JPEG contains the visible page as pixels. It does not retain selectable PDF text or perform OCR, so keep the source document when those features matter.

Balance pixel count and JPEG quality

Resolution determines how many pixels describe the page; JPEG quality determines how those pixels are compressed. Check both settings when small writing becomes hard to distinguish or a download exceeds its size limit.

Increasing DPI can reveal more detail from vector text and drawings, but it cannot repair blur in an embedded scan. Read any reduced-resolution notice and inspect the exact dimensions shown for the document.

Prepare OCR input deliberately

For recognition, try a representative page at 300 DPI as a starting point with high JPEG quality, then compare the OCR output with the original. Follow the recognition application's own input requirements.

If compression artifacts obscure characters, increase quality or use PNG. This page prepares images; it does not judge the accuracy of a transcription.

Check the exported image in its destination

Open the saved JPEG and inspect signatures, small type and page edges before uploading or printing it. Check print scaling separately from the density stored in the image.

For diagrams, line art or a transparent background, use PDF to PNG. A higher-quality format cannot restore source detail that was already missing.

Frequently asked questions

How should I choose the resolution?
Use enough pixels for the intended display, printing or recognition task, then inspect a representative output. A 300 DPI starting point can help with full-page print or OCR preparation, but the destination's requirements and source detail matter more than a preset.
Why does increasing DPI increase the file so much?
For a fixed page size, doubling DPI doubles both dimensions and quadruples the pixel count. The resulting bytes also depend on the content and JPEG quality. More pixels do not recover detail absent from a low-resolution scan.
Can I export a page range?
Yes. Enter the desired range, such as 1-3, 7, or leave it blank for the whole document. Count PDF page positions carefully when printed numbering differs.
Will a JPG stay searchable like the PDF?
The page becomes an image. This conversion does not run OCR or preserve selectable PDF text in the JPEG. Use an OCR workflow separately if you need recognized text, and verify its result.
When is PNG a better choice?
Choose PNG when you need transparency or want to avoid JPEG compression artifacts around fine text and line art. JPEG can make smaller photographic copies; compare the readability and size at the resolution you need.
What does the density value in the export do?
The image records its actual density so supporting software can calculate a physical print size. A print dialog may still apply fit-to-page or another scaling choice, so check the preview and settings.
Are PDF contents uploaded for conversion?
The pages are rendered and encoded on your device. The website and converter assets must load, but the document is not uploaded for this conversion.
